It was a year of firsts for this Bullets team.
After not having a coach during the 2023–2024 season, the Bullets hired new Head Coach Zachary Clouse to take the helm. Clouse, who played club hockey at Shippensburg University, made an immediate impact on the program.
He entered the season with a clear plan and a determined mindset—two qualities he instilled in his team from the very first practice. For many returners, this was their first collegiate season playing under a consistent and committed coach. It was also the first time in years the team had a full bench, compared to previous seasons when there were barely enough players to take the ice.
The Bullets welcomed senior Jarod Harrington, who grew up playing hockey but waited until his final year at Gettysburg to lace up his skates. He made an immediate impact both on and off the ice.
Additionally, Gettysburg added nine freshmen to the roster. This class brought a new energy and fire to the team that redefined Bullets hockey. Ryan Ostrem, Woody Manes, Will Ferrell, Gus Filippelli, Connor Varmecky, Charlie Grenier, Sam Jones, Caden Violette, and Tommy Findley all donned the orange and blue in 2024.
Gettysburg finished the fall semester with a 7–2 record, including a perfect 3–0 performance at the East Coast Showdown the weekend before Thanksgiving—closing out 2024 on a high note. In the spring, the Bullets faced more adversity, battling illnesses and the absence of teammates studying abroad, but they held strong and secured the No. 2 seed in the Delaware Valley College Hockey Conference (DVCHC) Patriot League Playoffs.
The Bullets wrapped up the regular season with a 9–5 record and ultimately fell in a hard-fought battle against Bucknell University on Championship Sunday in early March.
Four members of this year’s team—Quinn Klaiman, Hayden Strittmatter, Jake DaGesse, and Jarod Harrington—graduated in May. Their presence will be deeply missed both on and off the ice during the 2025–2026 season. Gettysburg Ice Hockey wishes them the best of luck as they begin the next chapter of their lives beyond Gettysburg, Pa.
As fall rapidly approaches, the Bullets are excited to take the ice in the 2025-2026 season where they will be a Division III ranked team in the American Division.
