2019 - 2020 DVCHC Playoff Game Protocol
 
Rosters / Check-in:
  • Coaches and/or Managers MUST update their rosters on the DVCHC website (with correct numbers) by 5pm on Thursday 2/20.
  • If your rosters aren't updated, or your players have wrong numbers upon check-in, they will not be able to play.
  • Upon arrival - Student ID or Drivers License will be checked against roster, by your Division Commissioner.
  • Check In: Minimum of 1 hour prior to game time for roster verification. 
 
Officials:
The DVCHC will schedule three on ice officials, one referee and two linesmen for all American/Patriot Division Playoff games. 
The two referees, two linesman system will be used for all National/D-II Division Playoff games.
 
In the event an on ice official fails to show up in a timely manner (at least 30 minutes prior) the DVCHC will immediately contact the Head of Officials/Scheduler and the game will be delayed until the third/fourth official arrives.
 
Off ice
  • Home Team shall supply clock operators and scorekeeper for their game. 
  • Home team (or Arena) can opt for arena music between periods or between whistles for fans
  • Home team, DVCHC Board Representative or Arena can remove any fans deemed necessary.
  • The DVCHC will provide clock operator and scorekeeper for the Championship Games
Games:
  • No team shall enter the ice until the game officials are on the ice.
  • 18 pucks per team shall be supplied by the Home Team for warm-ups.
  • Teams shall enter the ice on a clean ice surface
  • Warm-ups - 7 minutes
20 minute FIRST period

  • Only starting 5 players directly on ice, remaining players to go directly to bench.
  • Any needed stretching can take place off ice before gate doors are open.
20 minute SECOND period

  • Only starting 5 players directly on ice, remaining players to go directly to bench.

-20 minute THIRD period
 
Overtime
  • If tied after Regulation teams will go to the locker rooms and the ice will be cut.
  • 20 minutes will be put on the clock.  The teams will play full strength until one team scores.
  • Goaltenders will switch ends of the ice after regulation play and each additional overtime period.
  • If after 20 minutes of OT play the game is still tied, players will go to the locker rooms while the ice is cut.
  • 20 minutes will be put on the clock.  The teams will play a full strength until one team scores.
  • 1 additional Time Out will be awarded to each team for the balance of OT play.
  • If the rink can no longer support the playing of the game, the Director of Hockey Operations, Division Commissioner and League President will determine on when to finish the game.
Mercy Rule:
  • Any game in which there is ten goal differential (or more):
  • A running clock may be instituted by mutual agreement of the teams at anytime after the ten goal differential occurs and as long as a minimum ten goal differential remains in place or;
  • The game may be called by mutual agreement of the teams at anytime after the ten goal differential occurs and as long as a minimum ten goal differential remains in place.
Other
  • The National Anthem will be played prior to the start of each game.
  • All players and coaches will adhere to Code of Conduct rules listed in the DVCHC & CHF Rulebook. 
  • Teams will be required to ensure locker room areas are cleaned prior to their departure from the rink.
  • DVCHC Director of Hockey Operations, Division Commissioner and/or President will be on site for all disciplinary issues.
